East Final Preview
The #1 Montreal Alouettes will face off against the red hot Argos soon at 3 PM EST.
Third time’s the charm right? This marks the third straight season that Toronto has met the Als in the Eastern Final. Toronto won the first of those in 2022, and last year Montreal won after forcing 9 turnovers.
Toronto has been very hot lately, winning 5 of their last 7, with one loss coming on the walkoff rouge with their starters resting. Montreal on the other hand, are 2-4-1 in their last 7 games, playing completely different than the first 11 games. Cody Fajardo has been splitting time with Davis Alexander for rest and to prevent injury. Chad Kelly has been good and was very efficient against Ottawa with 4 touchdowns. Marc-Antoine Dequoy last year picked off Chad Kelly for a 101-yard pick-six to lead the Als to the Grey Cup.Â
The running backs in this game, Ka’Deem Carey and Walter Fletcher both can have a big influence on the game. Carey has consistently been a threat to defenses, and in Toronto’s 2 wins over Montreal this year he totaled 11 yards and a touchdown. Walter Fletcher has been a dual threat in the running and receiving game. Fletcher averaged 9.6 yards per catch, more than star receivers Kanny Lawler, Jalen Philpot, and DaVaris Daniels.
As the game nears, the nerves may come to players, like Chad Kelly last year. If he’s ready, the Argos have been the better team recently, so I’m changing my pick from earlier to the Argos.
