The Longwood Lancers blew out the UNC Asheville Bulldogs 85-59
Longwood went 6-10 in Big South play this season but it didn’t matter because they have won the Big South and are headed to March Madness.
The #5 Longwood Lancers and the #2 UNC Asheville Bulldogs went head-to-head on Sunday for a chance at March Madness. The Lancers led big at halftime, and the lead just kept growing that lead to the eventual 85-59 win.
Longwood was led by Michael Christmas who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. He also went 4/4 from the free-throw line and committed 0 fouls. Szymon Zapala contributed to the Lancers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Other players in double figures were Jesper Granlund with 11, Johnathan Massie with 11 as well, and Walyn Napper with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the double-double.
The Lancers shot a great 59.6% from the field (31/52), including a 53.8 3-point percentage (7/13).
UNCA was led by Drew Pember with 14 points and 6 rebounds, Pember was their only player with 10+ points. Josh Banks, Toyaz Solomon, and Nick McMullen all had 8 points to help Drew out.
The UNCA Bulldogs shot 38.2 percent from the field (21/55), and 22.7 from 3-point land (5/22)
Longwood will find out who they play on Selection Sunday on St. Patrick’s Day.
