McLeod Bethel-Thompson To Edmonton For One Year.
After leaving for the USFL, McLeod will return to the CFL.
TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports the Bethel-Thompson will play for Edmonton in 2024, McLeod is 35 and he played for the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL in 2023. In 2022, he led the Toronto Argonauts to the 109th Grey Cup Championship and led the CFL in passing yards with 4,731 yards.
Bethel Thompson has spent all 5 years in the CFL in double-blue and has won two Grey Cups there, in 2022 and 2017 as a backup to Ricky Ray.
Lalji also reported that Taylor Cornelius, the Elks starter for the first half of the year before Tre Ford took over, will be released. They will owe him 100k guaranteed money for next year.
Personally, I don’t love this move because Tre Ford is just that special and that good. He brings so much energy to the Elks and the CFL. He was such a fun player to watch, so even I as a Bombers fan like Tre Ford more than any other CFL player. So hopefully for the Canadian fans, he is used as a backup.
