McNeese State Wins Southland Tournament To Reach March Madness For First Time In 22 Years
McNeese State cruises past Nicholls State in 92-76 win.
The #1 McNeese State Cowboys dominated the #3 Nicholls State Colonels in a 92-76 win on Wednesday. McNeese now had a 30-3 record on the season.
McNeese was led by Shahada Wells who had 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Next was Javohn Garcia who had 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. DJ Richards Jr. had 16 points, but 0 assists or rebounds. Christian Shumate had 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. The team shot 61.4% from the field in this game (27/44)
Nicholls was led by Diante Smith who had a game-high 33 points and added on 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Rob Brown III had 13 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds to help Smith put. Jamal West Jr. also helped out with his 11 points and 5 rebounds.
McNeese will find out who they play During Selection Sunday which is just 4 days away.
