Before Sunday, the last home game the Edmonton Elks won was Oct. 12, 2019. That is 22 home games. But on Sunday the Elks beat the Redblacks 30 to 20. Edmonton was 1-9 entering the game. But they knew they could win the game, especially because Ottawa was only 3-7.
Ottawa got on the board in the first two minutes with a single. A single is when they punt the ball in the endzone and the player can’t run it out of the endzone. Then on 2nd and Goal Tre Ford Couldn’t find anyone open so he ran It in for a touchdown. Then they made the extra point to make it 7 to 1. On The next drive, the Redblacks Kicker Lewis Ward kicked a 46-yard field goal to get within 3. When Edmonton got the ball back Tre Ford ran it for 22 yards on the second play of the drive. His longest of ten rushing attempts. Six plays later Dean Faithfull kicked a 17-yard field goal to add on 3. Right before the 3-minute warning Dustin Crum threw a 35-yard pass to Shaq Evans. Then Ottawa misses a 35-yard field goal. But the defence shined on the next Elks drive with a speedy 2 and out. But Edmonton's defence also got a quick 2 and out. So the Elks got the ball back with just over a minute left in the first half. Eugene Lewis made the 2-and-out even more painful with a 66-yard TD catch.

The Edmonton Elks had a 17-5 point lead at halftime. When the Elks got the ball, they drove up the field including a 68-yard pass to get to the two-yard line. Taylor Cornelius ran a 1 yard QB sneak for a touchdown on the third try. On 3rd and 13 Ottawa kicked a 53-yard field goal to make it 24 to 8. When Edmonton gets the ball back, they drive to Ottawa’s 26, have a 5-yard penalty, and then kick a 38-yard field goal. In the next quarter, Ottawa running back Devonte Williams ran for a 23-yard touchdown.

But they then missed the 2-point conversion. With 2:40 seconds left the Elks kicked a field goal to add 3. But on the kickoff, Faithfull kicked it out of bounds, so Ottawa got the ball on their own 50. Tyrrel Pigrome ran for a one-yard touchdown but they could not get the 2-point conversion. The onside kick failed and the Elks won their second game in a row and first home win.
The Elks quarterback Tre Ford was 15/18 with a career-high 317 yards passing and 1 touchdown. On the ground, Tre had 10 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Brown, the Elks running back had 14 carries for 68 yards. Backup QB Taylor Cornelius ran for 5 yards on 4 attempts with 1 touchdown. The top receiver for both teams was Eugene Lewis with 3 catches for 112 yards and 1 touchdown. The defence sacked Crum only once.
Ottawa’s QB, Dusitin Crum was 17-26 for 172 yards and 0 touchdowns but 0 interceptions. Devonte Williams had 12 carries for 84 yards and 1 touchdown. Tyrrel Pigrome, the Redblacks’ backup QB ran for 9 yards and 1 touchdown. Their top receiver, Shaq Evans had 3 receptions for 51 yards but no touchdowns. Their defence got 2 sacks on Tre Ford.
