The Stetson Hatters beat the Austin Peay Governors 94-91 to make March Madness for first time in program History
The #2 Stetson Hatters are advancing to their first March Madness as a program after a narrow 94-91 win over the #4 Austin Peay Governors.
Stetson was led by Jalen Blackmon’s monster game, 43 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Stephan Swenson and Aubin Gateretse both had 13 points. Swenson had 1 rebound and 5 assists while Gateretse had 7 boards but 0 assists. Alec Oglesby had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist to complete the players with 10+ points. Tristian Gross had 8 points and Treyton Thompson had 7 for all 94 of Stetson’s points. Gateretse and Oglesby both fouled out of the game with 5 fouls.
Stetson shot 52% from the field (26/50), but 52.6% from 3 (10/19).
Austin Peay was led by their 5 players in double figures. The best of those was Sai Witt’s who had a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Dezi Jones also had a double-double with 17 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds. Dezi could have had more, but he too fouled out of the game, but with under a minute left. Demarcus Sharp had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Ja’Monta Black had 11 points and 3 rebounds. Isaac Haney was the last Governor to have 10+. He had 13 points and 4 rebounds.
The Governors had a chance at the end, but Ja’Monta Black missed the game-tying 35-foot 3-point attempt.
