Troy Tops Arkansas State To Claim Third-Ever Sun Belt Conference Championship
The #3 Troy Trojans battled their way to a 94-81 point win over #4 Arkansas State to punch their ticket to March Madness.
After a 94-81 win over Arkansas State, the Troy Trojans are headed to March Madness for the third time. This is Troy’s first conference championship since 2017 and the third in their history.
Tayton Conerway led the way for Troy as he was named the SBC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after scoring 21 points with 6 rebounds. Myles Rigsby scored twenty points for the Trojans, Thomas Dowd scored 14 points and also had 9 rebounds, while Jackson Fields had ten points.
Dyondre Dominguez led the Red Wolves in scoring with 19 points, followed by Derrian Ford with 17, Terrence Ford Jr with 11 and 7 assists, and finally Joseph Pinion and Kobe Julien with 10 points each. Izaiyah Nelson scored 5 points but had 10 rebounds. He fouled out of the game.
Troy, currently projected as a 14 seed and playing Kentucky in the first round, will find out who they actually play on Sunday during the selection show.
