If you are a sports better and you bet on the CFL, I am very sorry for your loss. BC fell to Toronto with an off-game for Rourke, Hamilton overtook Ottawa on their home turf, and Montréal tied Calgary in the first week with only three games.
Toronto Argonauts 33 - 17 BC Lions
Vernon Adams Jr. is officially back for BC, as VA, Rourke, and Chase Brice all took snaps for the Lions. Nathan Rourke was 6/12 with 110 passing yards and a rushing touchdown. Vernon Adams went 4/7 with 75 yards and an interception, and Chase Brice went 2/4 for 32 yards and BC’s only passing touchdown. Jordan Terrell led the rushing game with just 24 yards. Sean Whyte also missed a field goal but hit from 47 going 1/2. Chad Kelly is back for the Argos and had a pretty good game. He went 18/28 with 268 yards and 1 touchdown. He also ran for 56 yards on 10 carries for another touchdown. Makai Polk had 116 receiving yards and a touchdown as Kelly’s top target. On top of that, Liram Hajrullahu, Toronto’s kicker, went 6/6 on field goals.
Ottawa Redblacks 21 - 37 Hamilton Tiger-Cats
This looks like a score from last year, as Ottawa was the worst team all season, and never played well. This week was no different. Dru Brown started and went 17/27 for 164 yards and an interception. Jeremiah Masoli came in later and went 13/19 for 183 with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Hamilton also looked like last season, decent, but not great. Bo Levi Mitchell went 20/27 for 299 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. Greg Bell ran for 99 yards and a touchdown. Jamal Peters, Destin Talbert, and Jonathan Moxey all had interceptions for the Ticats. Their kicker went 2/4 but scored a single on the two misses.
Montréal Alouettes 19 - 19 Calgary Stampeders
This was not a game to remember for Montréal who had been ranked first in CFL.CA’s power rankings but fell to third after this game. Winnipeg moved up to first, and Edmonton is second. The Stampeders are still last. Jake Maier went 29/37 with 236 yards and a touchdown. Dedrick Mills had 21 carries and went for 122 yards. Calgary had their chances to win throughout the game, but Rene Paredes missed two field goals that would’ve been the difference. He still managed to spot 4 field goals though. For the Als, Cody Fajardo went 19/26 with 204 yards. Walter Fletcher had 90 rushing yards on 9 carries, including a 55-yard run.
