Week 18 Review
BC and Saskatchewan both clinch, knocking out the Province of Alberta from playoff contention.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31 - 10 Hamilton Tiger-Cats
With this loss, Hamilton is out of contention for the crossover, and now need Toronto to lose the rest of their games and to win out themselves to make the playoffs. Zach Collaros didn’t need to do much for the win as Brady Oliveria ran for 147 yards and a touchdown. Collaros did throw for 201 yards on 13 completions for a touchdown. Kenny Lawler had 78 receiving yards on just 3 completions, an average of 26%. Tyrell Ford got his 7th interception to tie first in the league. Sergio Castillo made his lone field goal and 4 extra points. Bo Levi Mitchell went 15/28 for 217 yards and 2 interceptions. Taylor Powell came in late in the game and went 3/4 with 32 yards. James Butler ran for a touchdown and was their rushing leader with only 24 yards. As a team the Ticats only ran for 30 yards.
Calgary Stampeders 15 - 32 BC Lions
With this win and Edmonton’s loss, BC clinched the playoffs again, carried by a huge game by Sean Whyte who drilled all 6 of his field goal attempts. Nathan Rourke went 20/24 with 218 yards and ran for 23 more. William Stanback ran for 50 yards. Keon Hatcher was just under the 100 yard mark with 97 yards. For the Stamps, Jake Maier threw for 164 yards on 19 completions with a touchdown and 2 interceptions, before Matthew Shiltz came in and threw for 99 yards and a touchdown on 4/5 passing. Shiltz also ran for 26 yards, and Peyton Logan ran for 89 yards. Reggie Begelton had 73 receiving yards and caught a 53 yards touchdown from Matthew Shiltz.
Saskatchewan Roughriders 28 - 24 Edmonton Elks
Once again, McLeod Bethel-Thompson’s interceptions cost the Elks a game. MBT had 379 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, but threw for 2 interceptions. The running game was nonexistent for the Elks as Javon Leake had 15 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries, Justin Ranking had just 13 yards on 4 carries, and Dakota Prukop had 2 yards on 2 carries. Kurleigh Gittens Jr. had 122 yards on 10 receptions. Eugene Lewis had 87 yards and a touchdown for Edmonton as well. Trevor Harris had a similar game for Saskatchewan with 358 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Shea Patterson ran for a touchdown and Frankie Hickson had 46 yards. Samuel EMilus and KeeSean Johnson both had a touchdown with 126 and 103 yards respectively. Rolan Milligan Jr. grabbed his 8th interception of the season to pull back ahead of Tyrell Ford.
