Week 20 Review
Toronto clinches a home playoff game in the east against Ottawa after a big win with even bigger playoff implications.
Calgary Stampeders 20 - 42 Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Bo Levi Mitchell balled out against his former team with the best game of the season to make his MOP case stronger. Bo was 24/37 with 450 yards and 5 touchdowns. He did throw an interception, but 5-1 TD-Int rate is pretty good. Greg Bell ran for 139 yards on 15 carries. Steven Dunbar Jr. and Tim White both had 2 touchdowns with 146 and 128 receiving yards respectively. For the Stamps, Matthew Shiltz did not have a great game against his former team with 124 passing yards and a pick on 12/24 passing. Shiltz did run for a touchdown as a part of his 43 rushing yards. Kicker Rene Parades was 2/2 and hit from 45.
Ottawa Redblacks 31 - 38 Toronto Argonauts
This is a heartbreaking loss for Ottawa as they now will have to travel to Toronto for the first round of the playoffs, instead of playing it at home. What makes this loss even worse is the fact that Dru Brown had 400 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. He threw an interception, and also carried the ball for 2 yards on the ground. The rough part of this game for Ottawa was running the ball. Their rushing leader was Khalan Laborn with just 11 yards. As a team they ran for just 28 yards. Kalil Pimpleton had 114 receiving yards, and Justin Hardy had 102 yards and a touchdown. Bralon Addison had 2 touchdowns and 74 yards to lead the wide receivers statistically. Chad Kelly had an amazing game going 21/26 passing with 331 yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 25 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown. Ka’Deem Carey led the team on the ground with 55 yards and a touchdown. Makai Polk had 104 yards and a touchdown to lead the Argos, but Dejon Brissett had 2 receiving touchdowns and 67 yards on 5 catches. The East playoffs are entirely set with Toronto hosting Ottawa in the semi-final, and the winner facing the East champs the Montreal Alouettes.
Montreal Alouettes 3 - 27 BC Lions
Vernon Adams Jr. has not been the problem at all this year for the 9-9 BC Lions. After his injury, BC went down north to sign Nathan Rourke after he was cut by the Atlanta Falcons. Rourke hasn’t been his old self, with only one game with that “wow factor.” VA on the other hand was on pace to bring home his first ever MOP before his injury, and although he was outplaying Rourke, they waited until their last regular season game to finally give him a start. He did not disappoint, other than his 2 interceptions, he had 385 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Big Play VA delivered with a 52 yard pass. He also ran for 39 yards and another touchdown. Keon Hatcher had 117 yards and Justin Mclinnis had 106 yards, but neither had a touchdown. For Montreal, Cody Fajardo went 7/9 with 67 yards and Davis Alexander was 11/16 for 67 yards. Fajardo ran for 16 yards and Alexander ran for 28 yards. Their receiving was pretty nonexistent as the team only had 134 yards, with Tyler Snead leading with 28 yards. Jose Carlos Maltos was their only points with a 14 yard field goal.
