Week 21 Review
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing week of football with a walk off overtime rouge and a leaf tornado.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 31 - 37 Ottawa Redblacks
Bo Levi Mitchell finished his season with a good game, but a team loss. He threw for 425 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Greg Bell and Ante Litre both ran for a touchdown, with Bell having 91 total rushing yards. Steven Dunbar Jr. had 180 receiving yards, and Kiondre Smith had 52 yards and a touchdown. Marc Liegghio was 4/4 on field goals, but only made 1 extra point. Dru Brown impressed to enter the playoffs with 445 yards and 3 touchdowns to 1 interception. Dustin Crum had a 42 yard run on his only run of the day, but still led the RBs in yards on the ground. Kalil Pimpleton had 167 yards and a touchdown. Dominique Rhymes had 115 yards on 6 catches. Lewis Ward was 5/5 on field goals with a long of 47 yards.
Toronto Argonauts 30 - 31 Edmonton Elks
Earlier this season, the Toronto Argonauts walked off the Riders on a rouge, but this time they were on the wrong side of the single. On 3rd&9 from the 34, the Elks lined their punter up to punt it into the back of the end zone instead of taking the risk with Borris Bede or their new kicker. Tre Ford showed up in the game with 325 yards and 3 touchdowns on 16 completions, and he also ran for 81 yards on 6 carries. Javon Leake ran for 128 yards including an 88 yard run. Eugene Lewis had 88 receiving yards and a touchdown, Leake also had 80 receiving yards and a touchdown. Boris Bede didn’t even play, Vincent Blanchard played and made his only field goal, a 19 yarder, but was 1/3 on extra points. Nick Arbuckle started under centre for the Argos. The pivot threw for 378 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. Cameron Dukes came in and went 5/7 with 40 yards later. Deonta McMahon led the running game with 35 yards and a touchdown. Makai Polk had 122 yards on 6 catches, and Jake Herslow had 55 yards and a touchdown. Lirim Hajrullahu was just 3/5 on field goals but drilled all 3 extra points.
WINNDYPEG Blue Bombers 28 - 27 Montreal Alouettes
Thank you mother nature and the football gods! Read about this game in its post below.
Windipeg Clinches West With Craziest Ending I’ve Ever Seen
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are officially God’s favorite football team as very possibly their season was saved by the wind in a huge way.
Calgary Stampeders 27 - 12 Saskatchewan Roughriders
With the Bombers win, the Roughriders didn’t need to start their starters because they weren’t playing for anything. Jack Coan and Shea Pattersonn both played QB, as Coan was 10/21 with 100 yards and a touchdown, while Patterson was 5/12 with 56 yards. Frankie Hickson led the rushing game with 54 yards for the Riders. Jerreth Sterns had 69 yards and a touchdown to sit atop Saskatchewan’s receivers. Brett Lauther was 2/2 on field goals, with a long of 50 yards. For the Stampeders, Jake Maier had 293 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dedrick Mills ran for 128 yards and led the Stamps by over 100 yards. Clark Barnes had 90 yards and a touchdown. Dererio Houston had a sack for the Stamps, still haunting Riders quarterbacks from his time as a Blue Bomber. Rene Paredes was 2/2 and 3/3 on PATs.
Player Of The Week: The Wind, Sergio Castillo, and Tre Ford
Both Sergio and Tre had outstanding games, and the wind cooked up something special this week.
