West Final Preview
The Saskatchewan Roughriders took down Vernon Adams Jr and the Lions in a huge defensive show.
Last week in the West Semi-Final, Saskatchewan’s defence collected 3 interceptions and forced a turnover on downs to come out on top at home. Zach Collaros threw the 2nd most interceptions this season with 15 picks. Saskatchewan had the league's second most interceptions on defence, led by Rolan Milligan Jr, who led the league.
Brady Oliveria led the league in rushing yards this year, but in the three games against the Riders, he had just 134 yards on 32 carries. But, the playoffs are a completely different story. Last year, in the West Final, he had 109 yards and a touchdown. In the West Final in 2022 he had 130 yards on 20 carries. In the Grey Cup last year, he had 119 yards and a touchdown.
AJ Ouellete has also had playoff success of his own. In the West Semi-Final last week, he had 2 touchdowns and 70 yards on 14 carries. In the East Final last year with Toronto, he had 108 all purpose yards. In the Grey Cup two years ago, he scored twice leading to the Argos upset win. Both running backs are very difficult to tackle and will be big contributors to their own offenses.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are looking to make it to their 5th straight Grey Cup. They won the season series 2-1, winning their 2 once they got healthy.
Winnipeg started off the season 0-4, and their playoff hopes were not looking good after starting 2-6. But then they went on a miraculous run after becoming healthy, leading them to their 4th straight western conference regular season champs.
As a Bombers fan, and how hot they’ve been, I have to pick my Bombers to match the Jets for an all around great day to be a Winnipeg sports fan. The Jets beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 today.
