The UFL had plenty of excitement in the first week, with plenty more to come. 4 more games are happening this week, with another on 2 Saturday- 2 on Sunday split.
Matchup 1: (1-0) San Antonio Brahmas @ (1-0) Memphis Showboats
This game is going to be great because we will get to see Chase Garbers again and see the first-ever matchup of undefeated teams in the UFL (minimum 1 game played). Chase Garbers played great last week leading his team to a 27-12 win over DC. Garbers was ridiculously efficient going 19/26 passing which is 76%. Both teams won last week, the Brahmas in their 27-12 win over the Defenders, and the Showboats won 18-12 against Houston. These two undefeated teams will match up on Saturday at noon on ESPN. I think San Antonio will win because they looked dominant in their win, while Memphis didn’t show the same level of competitiveness.
Matchup 2: (0-1) Arlington Renegades @ (0-1) St. Louis Battlehawks
Last week, St. Louis got stunned by a kicker who kicked his first field goal since high school. Jake Bates kicked from 64 yards out and sunk it down the middle. But, there was a timeout called. Attempt 2: same result. Jake Bates had put himself in the UFL/USFL/XFL history books forever. The Renegades were winning close with 9 seconds left in the first half, but Matt Corral’s dot to Deon Cain tied the game after the try. After that, the momentum switched because it was all Stallions after that. I think the Renegades will win this game because they played a cleaner game last week. You can watch this game on Saturday at 8 PM. It is on ABC to watch the game.
Matchup 3: (1-0) Birmingham Stallions @ (1-0) Michigan Panthers
Both teams won last week's game against the teams in the game at 8 on Saturday. The Stallions won over Arlington after Matt Corral played great with 201 yards. They ended up winning by multiple touchdowns. But, for Michigan, it was all their kicker Jake Bates and his first field goal since high school. I expect Birmingham to win this because they had a great overall win, but Michigan only won on a long field goal. This game is being televised at noon on Sunday on ESPN.
Matchup 4: (0-1) Houston Roughnecks @ (0-1) DC Defenders
Houston lost a boring, low-scoring game 18-12. Jarrett Guarantano had 157 yards in the game but had a rushing touchdown. DC got blown out by San Antonio 27-12 in an ugly game for them. Jordan Ta’amu took a brutal hit, came out, but struggled when he came back in. He did have 235 yards though which is a good sign for DC. I think that DC will win if Ta’amu plays like he did before he got hit, and the defence plays well, they should win. This game is Sunday at 4 PM on FOX.
