UFL Week 3 Preview
XFL championship rematch and a possible semi-final preview. Yes, I know I posted this late, I had it ready this morning but never posted it. Sorry.
We’re already 20% through the UFL regular season, and every game so far has been a one-possession game entering the fourth quarter. Stars have been rising and making cases for NFL careers, or maybe even being an NFL superstar. Yes, I’m talking about Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates. Bates could set football history for any sport if he kicks a 60+ yard field this week, it would be the first time in history that a kicker kicks a field goal of 60+ yards in 3 straight games.
Matchup 1: DC Defenders @ Arlington Renegades
This game is going to be one of the more anticipated games of the season because it’s the XFL Championship rematch, and DC is out for revenge. Last year, the 4-6 Arlington Renegades made the miracle run to the finals which ended with an upset over the 9-1 Defenders. This year, Arlington is 0-2 and DC is 1-1. I think DC will get revenge in this game after seeing Ta’amu last week against the not-best team in the league (San Antonio). Oh yeah, I forgot to say I’m a Brahmas fan, sorry. This game is at 1 PM EST on ESPN.
Matchup 2: Memphis Showboats @ Birmingham Stallions
Last week, the Memphis Showboats had a win in the bag. With an 11-point lead with under a minute left, but gave up 12 points to the Brahmas in a span of 45 seconds. The Showboats had won their first game, putting them at 1-1. The Stallions on the other hand have been terrific so far this season, with a perfect record of 2-0. They have scored a tied league-high of 47 points scored and allowed a league-best 27 points. San Antonio was the team that was tied for 1st in points scored. I expect the Stallions to be the first team to be 3-0 in UFL history. You can watch this at 7 PM EST on FOX.
Matchup 3: Houston Roughnecks @ Michigan Panthers
This is not going to be the game of the week, this is likely going to be the most boring game this week. Unless Jake Bates starts hitting 60+ yard field goals, I wouldn’t suggest watching this instead of any of the other games. This game is between the 0-2 Roughnecks and the 1-1 Panthers who are carried by their kicker. Since I have to choose a winner, I’ll choose the Roughnecks because I think the Panthers struggle to score points, but their kicker bails them out with 64-yard field goals. The first Sunday game starts at noon on ABC for those of you
Matchup 4: St. Louis Battlehawks @ San Antonio Brahmas
Through weeks 1 and 2, my players of the week have been Chase Garbers and AJ McCarron. The quarterbacks of these two teams. Chase Garbers probably should have gotten it in week 2 also, but since I gave it to him in week 1 I didn’t give it to him last week. Other players have been a great help for both QBs, including Anthony McFarland for the Brahmas and Mataeo Durant for St. Louis. San Antonio is 2-0 to start their season, and according to theufl.com’s MVP power rankings, Chase Garbers is the top UFL player so far, with McCarron not far behind him. Garbers has 6 touchdowns to only 1 turnover. In the standings power rankings, the Brahmas are ranked second and the Battlehawks are ranked third. This game should be close, but as a biased fan, I’m going to pick San Antonio. I also think Garbers has a very good potential to add to his current skills. Do not be surprised if you see this matchup in the semifinals of the playoffs later this season. If you will be watching this game like I will be, it’s at 3 PM EST on Sunday on ABC.
Lol. I'm a Renegades Fan. Went from the top of the world to 0-3 :(
