The CFL returns in Ottawa tonight at 7:30 in Ottawa for the Redbacks season and home opener against Winnipeg whose stars will be out as Lawler got put on the 6 game IL and Oliveria will be out this game.
Matchup 1: Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-1) @ (0-0) Ottawa Redblacks
Kenny Lawler got injured last week against Montreal and has been put on the 6 game IL. Brady Oliveira will not playntonight either. The Redblacks traded for Dru Brown from Winnipeg, and I'm excited to see who plays for them. No after who they play, I expect Winnipeg to dominate, even If Strevler starts.
Matchup 2: Montreal Alouettes (1-0) @ (0-1) Edmonton Elks
I'm not convinced that McLeod Bethel-Thompson is as good as he used to be, but Fajardo looked like a Most Outstanding Player that he may be in the future. Tyson Philpot also looked as good as he looked in the Grey Cup last year. Bethel-Thompson looked good, but the Elks are nothing without Tre Ford, so I'm going with Montreal.
Matchup 3: Calgary Stampeders (1-0) @ (0-1) BC Lions
This game could be a very close game and a great season series, but QBs are going to be the difference. Vernon Adams Jr has been one of the best in the league in the last few years, and had an amazing game, he just got sacked 6 times, and it's hard to play well when you're getting hit so often. Calgary beat Hamilton in Bo Levi Mitchell's homecoming in a good game. Jake Maier was extremely successful with a completion percentage over 80%. This will likely be a good game and a great season battle, but I'm going to pick BC to win.
Matchup 4: Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0) @ (0-1) Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In CFL.CA power rankings, Saskatchewan is ranked 2nd, and Hamilton is ranked last. Based in that we all know who should win. But Bo Levi Mitchell had an amazing game last week, but still lost the game. James Butler also played well with over 100 rushing yards in the loss. Saskatchewan had Trevor Harris back and with the signing of AJ Ouellette, have amazing talent in there roster that was shown in week 1, and will be shown much more throughout the rest of the season. I do disagree with the CFL power rankings of the official website, but I think that Saskatchewan will win this game.
(1-0) Toronto Argonauts have a bye this week. They defeated BC at home with Cameron Dukes while reigning MOP Chad Kelly is suspended.
