The CFL regular season is finally back in action, and is starting with one of the most anticipated game of the season. There is one game each day from Thursday the 6th until Sunday the 9th.
Note the records being shown today are the teams preseason records which have no affect on the season or playoff standings.
Matchup 1: Montreal Alouettes (1-1) @ (0-2) Winnipeg Blue Bombers
If you are an American and are reading this just to support me, I thank you but I also would recommend watching this game. It is going to be on CBS in the U.S. so you can watch it from the comfort of your home. This game is one of the most anticipated games this year because these two teams faced off in the Grey Cup last November in Hamilton. You can read about that game here. Winnipeg will be looking to get their revenge tonight at their home stadium. As always I'm picking the Blue Bombers to win this game.
Matchup 2: Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2) @ (2-0) Calgary Stampeders
This game will be meaningful for 2x Most Outstanding Player, and 2x Grey Cup champion Bo Levi Mitchell who achieved that with the Calgary. Bo has never played in Calgary with Hamilton who he joined with in 2023. Calgary lost star running back Ka'Deem Carey to the Argonauts during free agency, but got veteran QB Matthew Shiltz from Hamilton. From what I've read, Jake Maier will be starting for Calgary. This will likely be a close game, but I'm going with Calgary.
Matchup 3: Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-0) @ (0-2) Edmonton Elks
The Saskatchewan Roughriders added a great player when they got Arunning back AJ Ouellette from Toronto. Ouellette's rummimg game is one of the best in the league, only behind Brady Oliveira and Tre Ford. Edmonton will get to debut McLeod Bethel-Thompson at home this week, which is why I think that Saskatchewan will win. It's not that Bethel-Thompson is bad, its that Tre Ford is just that good. Tre Ford is one of the most talented guys in this league and is very under used.
Matchup 4: BC Lions (1-1) @ (1-1) Toronto Argonauts
This game has lost many superstars from this league. Last year the Lions has defencive master Mattieu Betts on defence, and the Argos had Chad Kelly, reigning MOP. Mattieu Betts got his chance to play in the NFL and took it, signing with the Detroit Lions. Chad Kelly on the other hand got suspended for half of the season. But both teams have plenty of talent, and Vernon Adams Jr. was amazing all of last year. Cameron Dukes did not play bad last year when he played, but he was not Zach Collaros or Chad Kelly at all which is why I'm picking BC to win this game. Even if BC hasn’t won at BMO field since week 4 in 2019 on a rouge. Sergio Castillo missed the field goal at the buzzer, and the Argos returner stepped out of bounds when he went to run.
Ottawa has a bye this week, and will start their season next Thursday at home again Winnipeg.
